History and Timeline
In 1987 Harmony Montessori CEO Glenda Sawtell was
looking for child care for her two young children after
coming across the Montessori education and philosophy
during her university studies.
Glenda found a Montessori children’s house operating in a
private home by the sea in Beachmere, Caboolture in
Queensland.
When Glenda enquired about the school, the owner informed
her that she wanted to retire and was looking for someone
to take over.
With Glenda’s background in teaching and social work, she
decided to continue the children’s house at her own farm in
Elimbah.
After two years, the school and the waiting list for places
grew and Glenda moved the children’s house to the local
Baptist Church Hall.
Enquiries continued growing, so Glenda purchased land and
established the Harmony Montessori Children’s House at
it'scurrent location in
1990.
The primary school was established in 1998
